Actually my guess is after having a bunch of guests last weekend for your bate that this is the closest Sadie will allow for a bate companion other than herself!
I see that the gentleman might have been a little jealous of your dad. He wanted Sadie only sitting by him. He even dressed up in his finest ruffles for Sadie.
I am like Aunt Di Sadie guards her Bate pretty closely and he was the only one she would share with.
