  1. You are UK bound! Say hi to Tom Jones for me (or any other national treasure)!

  2. When you head out for your morning coffee, will it be McColl's by any chance? Most likely, they will be your local Quik Trip since they are always open! How many minutes are ya from town, anyway?

There is a nice image posted with this article of the Christmas lights on James Street in downtown Harrogate! Also, I looked at the images of Harrogate, England Christmas lights. Impressive...especially the Manger scene!

Questions have been raised in Harrogate over how appropriate it is for shops to open on Christmas Day.

Convenience store McColl’s, on King Edward’s Drive is one which has said it is to stay open across the holiday period.

But this has prompted an angry response from some, who say it is “mocking” this special occasion.

One resident, Matthew Lunn of Albany Road, said: “The only places that should be open on Christmas Day are for emergencies. Unions fought hard to have a shut down.

“Christmas Day is meant to be a special day and we are in danger of losing our tradition.”

What do you think? Should shops open on Christmas Day? Vote in the Advertiser’s poll.
